On top of the artwork that was created by our talented artists, our kindergarten/Grade 1 students also created a diorama of Squamish. The children built buildings of places that help in our community.
The places they chose were: The police station, École Squamish, Fire Department, McDonal's (ask them about that one), Save On, Hospital, the park and the local artwork.
Our big buddies came in to help us with painting and a little bit of building.
We also did a lot of math with adding. We used ten frames and dice and played games. We also had a math session where we played card games such as go fish, memory, and war. Some students used the pattern blocks to create more complicated patterns.
Of course we practiced reading and writing
Keep working on those sight words :)
We had 2 fun presentations too. One by Blues Berries who play blues and rock music. The other presentation was from our Grade 6 French Immersion on Pink Shirt Day about being kind to others.
A group of students helping me sort out vocabulary words.
More building and creating. Thinking critically about how to get the marble rolling.
