Another great and busy week!
We had so many presentations from great people in our community.
Mme Joyce came to our class twice. Once to talk about and show us some cultural dances from the First Nations. The second, she taught us about the beading art and why the First Nations do it. After, they were able to make their own using patterning. One was to give to someone and the other they could keep for themselves if they chose to. Many students were very kind and gave both of theirs away.
We finished our Valentine's art project. Je T'aime!
Students working on Reading, Building and writing their vocabulary words. The vocabulary words this week were action words.
Students reading a class created book to each other.
Students using other books to see what words they can read or recognize.
Students working with Madame Grégoire on their reading skills. This booklet was sent home for parents to practice with their children.
WE have been learning about different types of music such as Blues Music and that Blues music influenced Rock and Roll.
We have been rocking it out and seeing how we feel when we hear certain music. We have been listening to artists such as Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, and Corey Harris which make them feel relaxed and lose. We have also listened to Shirley & Lee and Chuck Berry which makes many feel more excited.
But so far, music from Led Zepplin and The White Stripes has been the favourite. They LOVE IT! and really rock it out playing their air guitars. This music makes them really excited and feel free.
Writing Centre: Kindergarten writing their letters or practice writing vocabulary words
Grade 1- Writing words in Alphabetical order (some Kindergartens can do this too)
Playing with the coochie cartcher to practice identifying numbers in a number of ways they can be represented.
Our big Buddies wrote their own books with their little buddy in mind. They are fabulous books and the children loved that the big buddies made them themselves and for them!
They also loved that they read it to them
Play based learning and creating. Students were trying to build something that the marble could roll down or a path it could follow. They were so creative! Many possible engineers in here :)
Some students were creating new cooking ways in the kitchen.
Some basketball dribbling. Students were getting so excited that they could dribble the ball. And for some, they were adding tricks since our last basketball play time.
What a beautiful day! We had to take advantage and head outside to play. Our class is full of monkeys!
This week has been busy, as always.
The children had a chance to be outside in the sunshine most of the week which has been great.
