Another busy and fun week.
Here is what the children in Mme Grégoire's wanted to share:
The children and families who were able to attend the Potluck dinner had a really good time.
They learned about the sound O-N=on. They sang a little song about the sound. Using a little booklet, they learned what it looked like, they looked for the sound throughout their reading, they came up with words that had that sound in it and they learned to write some of those words.
The students are very excited about learning about using the Smartboard and taking turns being in charge of it in the morning. Les vedettes , the special helpers of the week, run the morning routine.
Using Kelso's wheel, a program to help teach to solve small problems, students had a chance to react scenarios and come up with different ways to solve each problem. They had good time and laugh doing this.
In math, students learned about pair/impair (odd/even), and had a lot of chances to practice recognizing numbers from 0-100 and looking at units, tens and hundreds.
We also had Fireman Kyle come and pay us a visit. He taught and reminded us of the importance of fire safety. STOP, DROP and ROLL was something all students were able to practice at school. I hope everyone had a chance to talk about the safety spot where you will meet your child in case of a fire or an emergency.
We were inspired by a Japanese artist, Ichi Ikeda, and the natural art they created.
The weather was so beautiful that it was a good idea to go outside and create a collaborative piece of art by all the students. See the pictures that follow :)
They got to meet another group of big buddies from Grade 5. They are trying to remember their names and get to know them.
With our High School friends, we played Cirque Piccadilly which is a game we have played many times on our own. The big guys thought the game would be super easy but they soon realized it wasn't.
