students were on fire this week.
The number one thing pretty much all students were excited about was practicing their plays. They are so excited to present them next week. (Thursday January 21st, 2:30-3)
We started off by looking at some play based bath were the children were in groups looking at different aspects of shapes. One station was sorting 2D and 3D shapes. Another station studebts had to build graphs using the information given to them. Third station, working on their number sense with number going in reverse and forward with numbers between 50-100. Last station studebts were able to use the tangrams to build other shapes.
Some students realized that it took 6 small triangles to make a hexagon. Others used 4 small squares to make a larger square (it really was a rectangular prism which they figured out)
we also had the second chalkenge of building something that was as tall as possible with10 dry spaghetti strands and marshmallows. The highest tower was 26cm.
In gym, we practiced our dribbling skills. They had a game at the end of who could have their all the longest while trying to knock the ball out of others hands to be the last one standing.
Caitlyn won twice! He is the king of the court
We also played the card game war in class and in the gym with all the other grade 1/2 classes. It was interesting to see who was a leader, helpful and kind to others.
We have been working on sentences about the weather and what we would wear or do. There are some examples with the cards the have pictures and words to help them create them.
we have also looked at art math where each student got half of a picture and they had to draw the exact replica to make the other half of the picture. They turned out really well!
We also had a chance to teach Mme barlas's class some new French vocabulary to get them ready to play bingo during carnaval week January 25-28.
It's going to be soooo exciting!
