We all made it through the first week back!
We changed our classroom routines this week. First thing in the morning each child exchanges their home reading books. I pull 5 children a day to read to me. The kids are seeming to like it and it is helping them be independent in their learning. It also allows to set reading goals when we meet.
We have also looked at what a dictionary is. Each student has their own dictionary to fill in for the word of the day.
We have been playing games regarding power of ten,9 and 8. We are trying to learn to add and subtract in our heads (mental math).
Before xmas, we looked at graphing and so this week each student had to collect data from a question and they had to make a graph.
In Gym, we are learning Canadian folk dances so we are prepared for our Carnaval celebrations at the end of january. And we will be teaching it to other students in our school over the next couple if weeks.
We are drawing in our creativity booklet and writing sentences about what are picture is about. The kids are LOVING it! What they are creating is fabulous!
Sciences we are learning about what are living and non-living things, what do we see, smell, feel, taste and hear in the four seasons. Hopefully they think of the animals we see in the seasons. We will be looking at what are the basic needs of animals and what type of adaptations animals make to survive.
finding out which of their classmates don't like the snow, likes hot chocolate, who has a blue coat by going around and asking them in French. They had to write their names down on the sheet. Once they found someone for that question, they went around asking another person a different question from the sheet.
