Awhile ago, our class had a group of baby caterpillars brought in. The students had a chance to observe the change into butterflies. Each student took notes and learned about butterflies throughout the lifecycle change. They asked questions and throughout our time, the children were able to answer there own questions.
When the butterflies were all "born", we had a lunch time outside and released them outside into the forest.
The students were able to choose the project they would like to do to show me their learning. The class brainstormed ideas on what ways they could show their learning.
Each child had a choice and then were put into groups. Off they went to plan, create and innovate!
Here is what they came up with.
